A great game of cricket enjoyed by PSL fans between both the host team and Karachi Kings. Islamabad United lost their second consecutive game at their home ground despite setting a big total on the board. While batting first, an excellent batting display by Luke Ronchi and United skipper Shadab Khan took them to 183 in 20 overs with the loss of three wickets. In response to such a big total a cameo by Sharjeel Khan as flying start to the innings and later Alex Hales half-century, Kings embark on their first victory after losing two consecutive games. Although Colin Munro’s first wicket fall in the second over gave some confidence to Kings in the powerplay. Luke Ronchi didn’t show his batting display as unlikely he stayed on crease without losing his cool. Ronchi went to score 85 runs off 58 with his later firework along with skipper took United over 180 runs total. Mohammad Amir, Umaid Asif, and Chris Jordan conceded more between 40-45 runs in their four overs bowling spell. Umaid Asif had the most expensive bowling spell with his 45 with the economy of 11.25 runs. Young Umer Khan got his first chance of bowling in the Pakistan Super League 2020 season and became the most economical bowler for Kings. Umer Khan conceded 24 runs are taking a wicket of Rizwan Hussain in his four overs bowling spell.
Ronchi and Shadab 106 Partnership Wasted
A great partnership between Luke Ronchi and Shadab Khan of 106 runs at 4th wicket is the highest for United. Shadab Khan proved himself a proper batsman promoting himself top of the order. He played a vital role. His 54 runs off 31 balls, including four maximums and three fours took Islamabad United to 183 along with Ronchi. A hard day for United as the second time they failed to defend their big total. In the last game of United vs Gladiators, they were unable to protect 187 runs.
In response to such a big total, Kings lost their important wicket in the first over of Dale Steyn. A great showcase of athleticism by Shadab Khan, whose ramping throw with Jonty Rhodes version got rid of Babar Azam. Sharjeel Khan wanted to rotate the strike in the first over of Dale Steyn, and in a narrow run, Shadab took an opportunity of removing Babar Azam. Karachi Kings were 0/1 in 0.4 overs as Babar Azam went back to pavilion without facing a single ball of the innings. Sharjeel Khan and Alex Hales paired for 57 runs when Sharjeel caught behind in a review by Rumman Raees. He scored 38 runs off 20 balls with his four sixes and three fours in his innings. Alex Hales, with his 52 runs off 30 balls, took the game away from the home side. Kings were 136/4 in fourteen overs needed 55 runs for 36 shots. Imad Wasim and Chadwick Walton’s partnership marked the second victory of four games for Karachi.
