Pakistan Super League 2018 (PSL3) the third season of the professional T20 Cricket League tournament jointly hosted by UAE Pakistan. The 2018 Pakistan Super League commonly known as HBL PSL 2018 for the sponsorship reason with Habib Bank Limited. Multan Sultans new team introduced by Pakistan Cricket Board in the PSL 3 after the successful first two tournaments. PSL 2018 Point Table – Multan Sultans represent South Punjab, commonly known as Saraiki regions of the country. With the inclusion of the 6th team, the total number of games increased from 24 to 34.
The most important thing about PSL 3 that two playoffs played in Lahore and PSL 2018 final hosted by National Stadium Karachi. With the announcement of PSL 2018 final at the National Stadium Karachi, tickets sold within just 15 hours, making a record in the history of the sport. The tournament running between 22 February to 25 March 2018 played in Dubai, Sharjah, Lahore, and Karachi.
Islamabad United wicket-keeper opening batsman Luke Ronchi was the leading run-scorer of the tournament with 435 and player of the series too. United batting allrounder Faheem Ashraf and Peshawar Zalmi striker bowler Wahab Riaz were jointly leading wicket-takers with18. Islamabad United won the second title of Pakistan super league making them the most successful team of the tournament so far.
Pakistan Super League 2018 or PSL 3 played under the same round-robin tournament format. With the inclusion of the Multan Sultan, the number of games increased from 8 to 10 at the group stage of the tournament. Each team played twice against its opponent in the first round of the PSL 2018 before they qualified in the top fours for the playoffs.
The winning team of any game at the group stage awarded with two points at the PSL 2018 Points Table while the loser got a little variation in the net run rate. If a game tied in the first round of the tournament and the winner decided in the super over. The following are the criteria for any team to get themselves into top 4 of the PSL 3 standing table.
- If equal, a higher number of wins
- Fewest defeats, If equal
- If still same, the results of the head to head meetings
- If even the same, net run rate
According to the PSL 2018 points table, if the super over tied at the playoffs, then the winner was decided under previous rules. Head to head match-winning results or team at the top of the PSL Points Table with their progressive net run rate.

Islamabad United dominated the Pakistan Super League 2018 standing table with their 7 wins out ten games. United qualified for the qualifier playoff with their 14 points and the net run rate of 0.296 at the group stage. Islamabad United faced Karachi Kings at first qualifier and defeated them with eight wickets making their way to the PSL 3 final.
Karachi Kings won five games out of 10 while a match was abandoned too against Multan Sultans. Kings took 11 points with the Net Run Rate 0.028, went to playoffs, and were at 2nd position of PSL 2018 Points Table. Kings lost two games against Islamabad United and Peshawar Zalmi in the playoffs and knocked out from the tournament.
Peshawar Zalmi won five games out of ten and grabbed 10 points with their positive NRR 0.464. Zalmi qualified for the playoffs, and they won both playoff games but lost the PSL 3 final against Islamabad United. Zalmi was at 3rd positions of the Pakistan Super League 2020 points table.
Quetta Gladiators won five games out of ten and grabbed 10 points with their Net Run Rate of 0.312 went to playoffs. Gladiators were at the 4th position of the PSL 2018 point table and knocked out in the 1st eliminator by Zalmi.
Multan Sultans and Lahore Qalandars won 4 and 3 games out of ten, respectively, and didn’t qualified for the playoffs. Both teams fell to the bottom of the PSL 2018 Points Table and knocked out.
